The latest from the Cranbrook Planer. It seems that the company has sent a carpenter to the Cranbrook Planer to work on the roof of the building. They are also sending a planerman in to do an assessment on what it would take to start up. The company has apparently put out a start up date of March 2011. Seems the company is trying to make an argument for themselves for the upcoming arbitration hearing in October. Funny how management told the former Cranbrook planer employees it's impossible to predict a future start up date given the ups and downs of the lumber market but suddenly they can see the future clearly and know when they want to start up the Cranbrook Planer. I think the only future date they really know is the arbitration hearing date in October. All this while they continue to cannibalize the old Cranbrook planer for parts.
This company will stop at nothing to screw their employees or former employees over.
Beware and be forewarned

I wouldn't get too excited, they're just doing this for posturing as you mentioned. To get that mill to run on even a semi-regular basis in March of 2011 they would have to put one of the two mills (Elko or Canal) on three shifts. The two planers can barely keep themselves in dry stock nevermind Cranbrook opening up.
Won't happen unless Elko or Canal Sawmills go to three shifts and I can't see that happening at $200 lumber. $400 maybe but not now
