United Steelworkers and Tembec have come to an agreement to settle the severance issue for the Cranbrook Planer employees. The planer has been shutdown since November 28, 2007. Steelworker officials met with the Cranbrook planer employees on December 13, 2010 to explain the settlement. The settlement will see the employees receive their full severance in 3 payments over the next 2 1/2 years. This is conditional on Tembec not reopening the mill over this time period.
