Current contract negotiations are on going. The last vote was something like 500 against to 10 for. I strongly believe that this may take awhile. So far the company has asked the membership to extend the current contract another year for a $1000 signing bonus. $1000 was a lot of money back in the seventies......

It would seem like negotiations are not going very well. The final offer will be presented next week by the union and they are rumored to be recommending to reject it. This may be the closes we have ever been to going on strike in our 42 year history. And the way things are going in the mills I do not see how we will be able to avoid it.

Employees has lost faith in Temiscaming HR. Lies, intimidation and 29 fired in the last 2 years. Employees have been giving concessions for the last 15 years and now is the time to turn the table around. Tembec will need to give back and specialy clean up in the HR departement or else there will be a strike because the union members have been united as it never was before. It's time to gain respect from the employees and most of all make Tembec a happy place to work. Unifor will build they're own futur like it used to be.

Word is that management is getting desperate, they are trying everything under the sun to scare people into accepting a garbage offer. More futile intimidation! They do not realize that people are smart enough to see right thru that! Hell they are not even smart enough to realize that almost all of management are for the most part very good friends with the union workers! We are all part of our community. And the management people tells the union everything that upper management is planning. It's kind of funny actually.

Glad to see some workers getting active on this board. The last vote for the current offer, which is labelled "final" by the company, will be cast Wednesday Nov. 19 at 20:00. The members should be made aware of the next steps afterwards.

Trailers are getting set up today in preperation for a possible strike. Hopefully company is taking the union serious. With a vote of 98.9% against the first offer, the second offer will not be enough to convince the membership to a 51% vote in favor. If that's not enough to take the union seriously, then mgt are more foolish than I thought. That's just my opinion.

The results of the second and "final" offer from the company are in. The membership voted 94% no to the offer. Now final offer doesn't always mean final, the company has been know (hic) to not really mean what we read.....That being said, a counter offer will be presented to the company, remains to be seen if the company will look at it. I will try and keep you posted as events develop.

Negotiations have been on going since monday morning but it was decided that it would be done in what is called a "blackout", which means, I was told is that neither side is allowed to comment until both parties agree to. That being said, I think we know which side suggested this. It was all over the news about the 94% rejection and the company could not, or would not comment on the result because, well, what could they say? So they decided to close the doors and not have to speak to the media to save face. Just wondering what kind of tactic they're using to try and screw us over again this time. Again, just my opinion. Anyone else have input?

Well I guess most of you know by now that the Temiscaming's 630 unionized employees are on strike since wednesday evening at 5:45 pm. A sad week for all concerned.
