The Mills will run again. In Mid July the mills will be going to a Two week on, two week off rotation. This will last til about October then it might go 3 week on 1 week off to keep the supply of chips and hog up at the Pulp. There is no future of running full time until next spring.

We will see if the mills run that much. This black liquor tax credit is effecting the pulp mills already. And I think it will force more shut downs of the pulp mill in future. If the government does not help out the forest industry we are all screwed. I encourge everyone to write the mla and let them know how bad it is gettng. They helped out the Auto industry no its time for them to help out us write

Lumber prices are up to $213 thousand and pulp prices are up $654 ton and the dollar has dropped to $.88 much better then what Tembec said they need to be cost effected to run mills. So what is the problem is Tembec broke. They say what they need to be cost effected to run mills know its better then what they needed so what is the problem? Tembec should be honest with everyone and let them know the truth is the company broke and going under then we all can make plans with know the true facts for our familys

Lumber prices for 2& Better are 2x10 $212, 2x8 $190, 2x6 $176, 2x4 $184. So the problem I see here is that we are working for a company owned by investors that only want to make money hand over fist. They want to see the share prices go up. Therefore they don't give two nutss about the employees and what they have done in the past!! It's all about now!! No longer for the Future!!

You are right the Loggers got the worst end of the stick. No work at all for a long time. The Loggers will be working this year. I think it will be early August, til they get shut down due to forest fire risk, roughly until the end of August. The mills will be down again in September for a another 3-4 week. So I believe the loggers will back full bore in Late September.

Tembec will be lucky to find any loggers willing to work for them!!! I think with the downtime the mills took, most logging contractors are close to bankruptcy!!!

Was told today that we're likely going up on the 6th of July but for how long, who knows? The black liquor tax credit for pulp is going to help considerably as is the lower stumpage fees that the company now pays. About $6 a metre. Will confirm Thursday.

When Lumber tanks again, all Tembec will Do is buy another chipper and chip the logs they need, not run the sawmills.

From what I've been told the log haulers are going to haul the logs already down in the bush (since about January!) into the mills July 6 also. As for the loggers they haven't been told to go back. One logger I talked to said they were told to expect late August/September before they go back into the bush. And a strike? We won't strike but the industry could lock us out. There was a report in the Prince George Citizen that said Canfor had proposals to the tune of 20% concessions. I've been told that they want to take away our floater, three-days bereavement among other benefits on top of wage cuts that adds up to 20%. The Citizen story said the proposal was based on what the PPWC negotiated in MacKenzie for one of the Canfor mills there. I think it's the one that was announced as starting up around the election. Here's the link to the story: www.princegeorgecitizen.com/20090622198605/local/news/canfor-wants-to-slash-labour-costs.htmlThat said, the industry's never locked us out before but who knows?
