I talked to someone in Tembec management recently and was told that the management personal that were let go received severance of 3 weeks pay per year of service. Cranbrook Planer employees are getting screwed over after being reassured that we'd get our severance for 2 years by Tom Kirk, Dennis Rounsville, Rob Ondrik, etc.
A company of people building their own future. I guess we need to know their definition of people. The workers don't seem to be included.

For a company that is supposedly so broke, they never cease to amaze me. Out of one side of their mouth they say we can't afford to pay severance to workers who have been out of work for almost 2 years, then out of the other side they say mis-management still deserves huge bonuses and laid off staff deserves an immediate 3 weeks severance pay per year - no fight, no lies, no stalling. They probably even got a thank-you and a hand shake, maybe they'll even get a Christmas card. Talk about different standards?!? Maybe it's just management building their own future?

There are different standards when it comes to management. Fact: When management is let go (unless its just cause) they are entitled to severance, how much varies on qualifications, service with company and what is negotiated when they sign the dotted line. Had the company not paid they would have found themselves in court paying there instead with added court fees. Maybe instead of complaining we should negotiate better severance language. That would amaze me. Christmas card would be nice too.....
