Hey guys my name is Hugh Collins and I am the president of CEP Local 448. I recently had a meeting with our mill manager and HR guy. I have been told that we well definately be down for April, most likely May then who knows. On the positive our Fibre Procurement guy has applied to the Government for grants from the Job Opportunities Fund, and Forest Investment Account to put some of our members back to work by repairing things at Forest Recreation sites. Tembec mills qualify for these funds and I encourage you to pressure your HR guys to get on the ball, and try to get some guys back to work, even if it isn't doing their regular jobs, its better than the pitiful state of EI. This is a great site and I will be passing it on to my members to join.

Thanks for the input and info on the Job Opportunities Fund. Thanks also for the comments on this site. I have created a message board for the Chetwynd Pulpmill. I hope this will be useful.

Thanks for your support Hugh, at times like these we should all stick together and help each other out - kind of like in the old days.

Well, I remember back a few years ago when one of our past presidents thought that all unions should form a Tembec Council to deal with these sorts of issues. But we couldn't get any support from the East, now look whats happening.
