We heard that the Cranbrook Fingerjoint plant would be down for awhile, but when I talked to one of the workers there he said he hadn't heard anything. He reads these forums as one of his tools to keep up to date, so if anyone knows any details could they please post. Same for any of our other mills. We heard there may be a vote needed as to whether or not a pay cut should be accepted? Anyone know any details?
Thank you

Ahhh, the old "indefinite" closure thing again. Could this be the end of the fingerjoint plant? Of course with no severance pay as done with the planer since it is "indefinite". In Ontario it is much harder for Tembec to do this since the labor legislation there only permits a tempory layoff up to a maximum of 35 weeks. After that employees are considered to be severed and the company must deal with the employees as such. That's how the employees at Smooth Rock Falls ended up with their severance after Tembec tried the old "indefinite" closure thing. Something to consider is where we're at with labor legislation with the upcoming provincial election.

Yes the FJP is indefinite closure. They had a meeting with the employees and told them last week. (All that went).
