Tembec has Canal Flats and Elko shut down. Maybe never to open the Finger Joint Plant again and screwing the Cranbrook Planer out of their severance pay. Now the Pulp Mill is starting up so Tembec can fulfill a contract and they have told us they are trying to find outside sources of chips which means the mills will stay shutdown. They keep giving us dates and stringing us along as they did with the Cranbrook Planer. Why aren't we going out to picket the pulp mill and try and hit Tembec were it hurts. There's over 250 people out of work sitting at home, some not being able to feed their families or make their mortgage payments and in actual fact it should be Tembec fulfilling contracts with their employees. Start by paying severance as they promised to the Cranbrook Planer Employees and giving the rest of their employees some real facts. Maybe others could then hope for proper treatment when Tembec cuts their jobs at the Finger Joint or Canal or where ever.

Now that the pulp mill has signed new 10 year contract with BC hydro to buy the co-gens power, an imformation picket line should have an enormous impact!!! We should also set up informational picket lines in Cranbrook!!! Outside Bennetts campaign office, BC Hydro office, city hall and at the Tembec main office (not too likly anyone there would care)!!!! I think that this would be a great idea and would really help get our message across.
